Well, basically I feel like storing everything that inspires me everyday. From visuals I see, things I hear, smell and feel, to every random works I create. Any kind of things that I possibly hate, like, love, or feel disgusted at, because “everything” are simply inspiring.

1. Florence and The Machine

I’ve been listening to them these past few weeks and still can’t get enough. I like her music, I like her style, I want her hair and what she wears. It is ‘festive’, whimsical, refreshing and playful, but faraway from shallow as I love it’s lyrics too, not like some others ‘pop’ fancy videos with full-of-pollution lyrics. My favorite among these three would be Rabbit Heart.

The Freek Off Halloween 2008 is a sacred event at The Butter Factory, simply to celebrate Halloween. They planned this event for few months and seven design students were selected to contribute 14 designs that reflect the club’s character and their traditional Halloween theme- freaky, flamboyant, OTT, and there’s-no-such-thing-as-too-many-colours. I was one of them. The night was crazy, everyone were drunk due to Chivas, coz it was sponsored by Chivas Live. haha still funny when I remembered it. A little drama happened, the lights on the costume, it was spoiled for a while and I can’t able to switch it ON back, i thought it was the end for a moment and then Firdaus Pidau, the perfect model for my outfit that night, saved my life, his magic hands solved the problem.

These Halloween outfits were inspired by “weird” sea creatures, a new character for halloween. I found it inside a book of thousands deep sea creatures which was shown from a friend of mine, Helmi, thanks for that. The theme I was doing is “In to The Deep”, and when I flipped the book with all these colorful pictures and it’s amazing textures, i fell in love with it straight away, without any doubt i picked it as my theme. The other reason is also because I found that deep sea creatures are mysterious and in fact quite scary.  It was actually designed for my semester one diploma collection, but my lecturer told me it was too costumy and over the top. Luckily this project came by and so my idea were not wasted and more than that, they (Butter Factory) love it and was mentioned as their favorites, so it’s great. Ideas and great timing are perfect match, always.

Thanks to Bobby and Adrian for the best Halloween night ever in Singapore. :)

20080724-_MG_0773_BLURHow do you start something will pretty much dictate how you will continue. I guess it is true. I was thinking of some colors, bright colors. Flashed back to my childhood times, I tried to collect my memories one by one, I think of my favorite toys which I always play when I was alone and bored, doodling, cutting paper dolls and finding all materials that I could find in my little room. I ran back to my old house in Jakarta, gather all old cassettes tapes I could possibly find, and I managed to collect it back around 13-15 cassettes. Recycling my past and see what it could do for my present. Get some papers, glue, straws and some paints, sketch a little to plan. The whole process was so much fun, i enjoy process, especially when it got a nostalgic feeling to it. I stopped for a while, stepped back a little, forget about growing up, rewind and wear my past. Where black and white are covered and I could see it no where but in my notebooks. Applying whatever I have learn in school. Let’s take a good walk he said. Sun is fun to play with, all i need is my lego outfit with some favorite music on, and it is not so bad after all. In fact, it feels great.

FINALFINALFINAL-poster

[SHEYPS] FOR PEACE is a fashion art show which involves collaboration between Lasalle’s fashion designes, fine artists, media artists and acclaimed fashion photographer Jerry Aurum. It is also one of the main event of the inaugural Lasalle Arts Management Diploma Show which brings together various faculties to showcase artistic and management talents of future artists and arts managers.

The theme and title of the fashion show is derived from the dictionary pronunciation of ’shapes’. The definition of the theme is to put together different basic shapes like squares, triangles and circles to create work that exemplifies harmony and unity. It parallels with what the exhibition aims to achieve through the collaborative efforts of various shapes represented by individuals of different creative backgrounds. Eventually, these artists will be working together to create a unified and harmonious work, the exhibition. The theme also mirrors the diverse multi cultures of our society and how we have excelled in our quest for harmonious living and Peace.

The idea of [SHEYPS] For Peace came about when I wanted to create something fun in the college. Ever since I moved to Singapore, I noticed that there aren’t very much events within the college and even if there are, they are usually organized within the faculty. Passion, fun and hard work are important factors that has contributed to the success of this project. Although working with different people was very challenging, it served as a great learning experience. It goes beyond getting good grades in school. My aim is to see more of Lasalle students and anyone to undertake such projects as it makes learning more fun, enjoyable and most importantly meaningful. The reason for [SHEYPS] is because ‘Differences are power, Love is the magic, and Peace is what we are looking for.’

Hence, I would like to thank and congratulate everyone who participated in this project from the deepest of my heart, it would not be possible without everyone supports, effort and participations :)

Patrick Piay the project manager and Daniel who has helped a lot.

All the amazing and talented fashion designers, fine artists, media artists :  Aaron Han, Andre Tan, Angkhana, Daniel Loh, Janice Chua, Jeri Loh, Jerric Chong, Joan Tan, Nathanael Ng, Rita Li Sang, Sunny Huang, Vikas Dayal. Alvelyn Koh, K.C, Ade Putra Safar, Ragil Putra Setia, Nor Alfian, Hafiz Rahman, Jessica Fedora.

great job guys, i will remember it forever and I could not have done this project without every single of you, i love you all ;)

The coolcrazyawesome graphic designer : Khairil Osman

My mentor / favorite lecturer : Lionel Roudaut for all his meaningful advices for all these 3 years in lasalle.

I remembered, i asked him for his feedback on my work and he told me that “Patricia you are working, but you are running in circles, where are you going ?” and i questioned him about life, after few weeks i tried to find what it is that i am really looking for, and I simply just sit at the garden near my house, doing nothing, at that point of time I know the answer.

My dearest friend Jerry Aurum, who taught me a lot of things, for every single positive support, and to made me realized my dream. When I first met him, I told him that his work in Femalography inspired me and it gave me this desire to be like them, you know so beautiful and strong. Someone who knows exactly what they want, and unexpectedly he gave me an opportunity to work with him, it was unbelievable. I went to the toilet after he left and was in stoned for like 10 minutes because I was shocked. hahaha! When I complain or in doubt he keep saying that “If you really really want it, everything is possible”. Thank you, really. i will remember it forever as well :)

Toni and Guy, 2 thumbs up. I could not be any happier to work with them. awesome job.

All the beautiful models! Yana, Roberta, Dara, Prisca, Daphne, and everyone that it is impossible for me to mention it one by one.

Last but not least, I want to thank God for everything he does, to be able to work with all the amazing creative people and make this happened.

And since everyone are graduating from Lasalle soon, and I could not see you guys again everyday, I wish all of you the very best of luck for what it is now, for the future and the new beginning! It’s been great fun, keep in touch. xoxo.

To sum up :

“In our life there is a single color, as on an artist’s palette, which provides the meaning of life and art. It is the color of love. ”

Quoted from the painter I adore, Marc Chagall.
